The City of Swainsboro recently received a 7.2 million dollar grant for its wastewater treatment plant improvement project. This grant, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is the largest received by any city in the country in this round of funding. A story about the grant appeared on the front page of Swainsboro's newspaper, The Forest-Blade.

Community Development Block Grant Awards Congratulations to all the recipients of the 2009 Community Development Block Grant awards. G. Ben Turnipseed Engineers is pleased to recognize our clients who were recipients of the 2009 CDBG awards and for whom we provided engineering and planning services critical to the application process. Over the past 7 years, our clients have received over $24,150,000 in CDBG grant funds for infrastructure improvements. The average grant received was $500,000.
Our firm specializes in meeting the needs of communities eligible for CDBG funding. If your community would like our firm to provide your city or county with application assistance for the upcoming 2010 CDBG competition, please contact Chris Poje or Kathy Wallace at 770-333-0700 as soon as possible. The deadline for the next competition is in the Spring of 2010.

Sewerage system improvements include rehabilitation of failing sewer lines in a low to moderate income target area. The improvements will serve 147 people of whom 142 or 97% are low to moderate income citizens. |

Sewerage system improvements include rehabilitation of the sewer collection system in a target area to eliminate sewer backups into homes and yards benefitting 172 people of whom 152 or 88% are low to moderate income citizens. |
