On July 27, 2011, The City of Jasper hosted its second annual Mayor’s Touchdown Golf Tournament. The event, held at the Bent Tree Golf Club, raised $7,000 to benefit the Jasper Youth Sports Association.  Thirty four-person teams participated and each player paid $5 to “Beat the Mayor” on Hole #7.  Local businesses provided the prizes, ranging in value from $25 to $50.

Project Highlights
 
The City of Tallapoosa recently received a $574,500 green-project loan from the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority to complete its water meter replacement project.

In April of 2010 the City of Dawsonville received the Water Plant of the Year Award for Groundwater Treatment Systems with 1,000 to 2,499 customers from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals. Below, Dawsonville City officials pose with G. Ben Turnipseed Engineers at the GAWP conference and Ben Turnipseed, Jr. and Dawsonville Water and Sewer Superintendent Gary Barr display the City's plaque. 





The City of Swainsboro recently received a 7.2 million dollar grant for its wastewater treatment plant improvement project.  This grant, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is the largest received by any city in the country in this round of funding.  A story about the grant appeared on the front page of Swainsboro's newspaper, The Forest-Blade.
 
                                               
The City also received funding for a new water storage tank and tank repair project and various sidewalk/streetlight improvements.
 
 
 
Community Development Block Grant Awards

Congratulations to all the recipients of the 2011 Community Development Block Grant awards. G. Ben Turnipseed Engineers is pleased to recognize our clients who were recipients of the 2011 CDBG awards and for whom we provided engineering and planning services critical to the application process. Over the past 9 years, our clients have received over $27,368,000 in CDBG grant funds for infrastructure improvements. The average grant received was $500,000.

Our firm specializes in meeting the needs of communities eligible for CDBG funding. If your community would like our firm to provide your city or county with application assistance for the upcoming 2011 CDBG competition, please contact Chris Poje at 770-333-0700 as soon as possible. The deadline for the next competition is in the Spring of 2012.

Environmental engineering involves pollution control of air, water and  waste disposal to protect the health and safety of the public.

G. Ben Turnipseed Engineers provides a full range of civil engineering services helping communities and municipalities build and maintain their infrastructures. We specialize in water and sewerage system improvements while providing additional engineering services to support planned growth and development within the community.
Hydraulic engineering involves the flow of fluids, specifically surface water and groundwater. G. Ben Turnipseed Engineers performs modeling of both water and sewer flows; provides modeling and analysis for reservoir systems, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, storm water management and various other water resource modeling using WaterGEMS, H20Net, SWMM or similar software.
Engineering students and graduates will find a challenging opportunity working directly with project engineers while fulfilling the requirements of their co-operative or internship education programs.
